white rugs

i want a white rug for my room. i luv decorating my room with many things. the problem is that: "many things." haha...i don't wanna go overboard. cuz then it'll be clutter.

i was in the thrift store today and almost bought an ethnic pink and blue and white woven rug. i luved it. BUT my mom said "would that match your room?" and then i thought ok, not realllyyyyy. but it's so prettyyyyy.

i do want a white sheep's rug though. that will defs match my room. ikea has one for $40. maybe i'll get one.

oh yah! and i do wanna buy a coupla pillows to place
on other side of my couch.
i luv pillows too.

bye-bye bbq

i said goodbye to my best friend vivian.
she's in china and vietnam right now.
(one of those places, i mean).

but before saying goodbye,
we had a huge asian/western bbq.
it was very interesting to see what food
and drinks people came out with.

making chow mein.

you better be darn right there was singha,
"the product of thailand."

bye bye vivian!

pouring some pimm's. how refreshing!

yes, sadly i burnt the garlic toast!
ahhhhh, me and my forgetful memory.

i tried to salvage what was left to no avail.
stop laughing marie!

"bonne voyage kat and viv!"

who wants to be in the nude?
ok... in nude colours???
(i was trying to be witty, come on guys.)

this fall season, nude is one of the colours
to wear and bare.
it's a perfect colour.
it matches any skin colour
as long as it's the right tone.

i'm excited for fall colours:
nude, camel, grey, browns...

it will be a nice change for the season.

ACE hotel

the one in new york.
there are 4 ACES around america.
one in seattle. one in portland.
one in palm springs.
and new york.

i've had the privilege of staying at the seattle
ACE hotel one weekend.
and boy, yes yes, i will stay again!

what makes it so special you ask me?
  • well the fact that it's reasonable.
  • the interior decorum of each room.
  • the free magazines, maps and books.
  • the free continental breakfast (including waffles!)
  • rudy's brand shampoo (i bought it. i'm addicted.)

so yes.
i wanna go visit the one in new york.
don't you now?
when i get over there again someday...

i'm planning a palm springs getaway during christmas break.
maybe i'll arrange a stay at the ACE there too...
so many options. so many decisions...

imperial villas. medieval churches. elegant 19th century residences.
magnificent coastal walks. flower-strewn mountain slopes.
the shimmering blue Mediterranean sea.

the island off of italy.
known well for its beaches and wine.

so sorry

"You said a bad driver was only safe until she met another bad driver? Well, I met another bad driver, didn't i? I mean it was careless of me to make such a wrong guess. I thought you were rather an honest, straightforward person. I thought it was your secret pride."

"I'm thirty," I said. "I'm five years too old to lie to myself and call it honour."

She didn't answer. Angry, and half in love with her, and tremendously sorry, I turned away.

-The Great Gatsby.

"In the world of normal discourse I was like a tourist- a dying tourist- on a twilight tour of Europe. Each sunset, each spire, each cobblestoned path, each lobby, each glass of local beer is monumental, tragic, and unparalleled."

"Out the kitchen door, she stood breathing in the night air, the cold and the rain, the chairs dripping against the warped wood of the deck, the lights muted and hazy. There was no end to the Bosch... Served her right for having a good day, she had gone almost a whole afternoon without thinking of him every moment. Thinking she was doing well, making progress. There was never going to be an end to this. Whenever she thought she could not feel more alone, the universe peeled back another layer of darkness."

"Sam had always enjoyed a good scare. He was a connoisseur of the wild scene, the evening of deranged doings, the overdose, the wrong turn, the frightened innocent bystander; he was a believer in art for art's sake, pain for the pure and utter realness of sensation, and he'd always been partial to the raw, the blood-stained, the weightless, the orphaned, the dead, the lost. Burn me, he would have said. Set me free. Let me fall from the tallest building, the farthest tree."

crazy for you

sweet pastels.
the suit dress.
there's something so sexy about an all white dress.
i luv wearing white.

le fou by wilfred.
fall/winter 2010 collection.

i first discovered wilfred through aritzia.
he now has 3 other lines aimed towards
different target markets.

i luv the fall colours.
the pastels, the black and white.
the silky crepe feeling. it's delightful!

something that is light, sheer,
that falls off your shoulders.
shows a little skin.

i think that's romantic and sexy.

ps- i just found this song after i titled and wrote this.
how perfect!

salt tasting room

salt tasting room.
a wine and cheese alley hideout.
it is the best late nite haunt or go to
for dessert.

it is literally located in blood alley.

it is a tasting room specializing in
artisanal cheeses, cured meats, and a huge
array of wines, beers and sherries.

the menu is simple.
on the chalkboard is a selection of
10 cheeses, 10 meats and 10 condiments.

you choose 3 cheeses and meats
and then pair it with 3 condiments.

you can also choose to pair the plate
with a flight of 2 oz glasses to match the
cheeses and meats.

when we went it was raining cats and dogs.
and we forgot an umbrella.
if it rains, DON'T forget the umbrella.
it's a super loooooong alley.

i will defs be goin back to salt for more
tastes in experiencing cheeses and meats
from around the world.
