lucia di lammermoor opening night

nik is back at the opening of
blogger night for
LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR!

sitting here with my fellow bloggers from
LILLIAN ALLING.

quick background info:

lucia is loosely based on sir walter scott's historical novel
THE BRIDE OF LAMMERMOOR.
interesting...
the libretto that will be presented tonight
is in original italian written by
salvadore cammarano.

lucia was also first performed in 1835!!!
how thrilling to see an opera still
in motion 150+ years later!

donizetti is the composer to help finish lucia,
along with giochino rossini and vincenzo bellini.

what am i looking forward to?
"the mad scene!"
when the sopranos will add their extra
special trills, run and other ornamentations.

JUST WENT BACK STAGE:
the set is incredible.
taken from the San Francisco Opera,
it's a castle set.
slanted and a little scary climbing up!

i'm checking out all the fabulous folks now.
i'm seeing a lot of fur coats, wraps, and shawls.
although fur is seen on the runways this fall,
fur never went out of style.
i don't think it ever will. :)

and now i see this gorgeous man
in his 50's in a red bow tie
and black and white tux.
red is a beautiful accent.

well gotta go and get ready for the starting now...

ps- i brought my own personal photographer, tiff,
with me tonight. will show you pics at end of night.
